Lesley Paterson is Awarded a BAFTA for her All Quiet on the Western Front

The Stirling Highland Games committee were delighted to hear that our 2016 Stirling Highland Games Chieftain secured 7 BAFTA Awards including the best-adapted screenplay.

Now a 5x world champion triathlete, Lesley had been working for 16 years on bringing the book, All Quiet on the Western Front, to the big screen. Together with her screenwriting partners Edward Berger and Ian Stokell, the film picked up 7 awards on the night and President Matt McGrandles of Stirling Highland Games said, “we would just like to wish Lesley and her team all the very best. It was great to be able to host Lesley and her husband Simon back in 2016. She is an amazing athlete and to see her take that mindset that made her a triathlete champion, to the film industry is outstanding. Her resilience is just superb. We look forward to seeing her back at Stirling Highland Games in the near future.”

Stirling Highland Games selects its Chieftains from its famous sons or daughters that were born in the Stirling area. Lesley fitted the bill before and even more so now. We can’t wait to hear what Lesley’s future plans are.
